Grand View Hazardous and Radioactive Waste Disposal Site

2609 Google Earth image. The Grand View Waste Site, in southwest Idaho, is one of four commercial hazardous waste sites that accepts low-level radioactive waste (the others are at Barnwell, South Carolina; Clive, Utah; and at Hanford, Washington). Others, at Sheffield, Illinois; Beatty, Nevada; and Maxey Flats, Kentucky, have ceased to accept radioactive waste, though their contents remain radioactive for the indefinite future. Grand View is operated by U.S. Ecology, which also operates Beatty, and a major commercial nuclear waste site on the government's Hanford Reservation, as well as a hazardous waste site in Robstown, Texas, that also excepts some naturally occurring low-level radioactive wastes.
