The Venice salt dome is located at the end of the Mississippi River. It is a gathering station for gas lines in the region, and has more than a dozen caverns, totalling more than 20 million barrels capacity. Known locally as the wagon wheel, as its flooded pipeline channels form a circle around the edge of the dome.
