With the new transportation hub at Secaucus Junction, a large residential urban loft and apartment development was built across from the station and Exit 15X, called “XChange at Secaucus Junction.” Construction of the project began in 2006 with the grading and filling of the land next to the Hackensack River. After a number of delays, the project’s first and second phases were complete in 2010. Infrastructure has been laid for a possible expansion of the project.
