Potter's Field

A former potters field—a municipal graveyard for the poor—is next to Newark Airport, where more than 15,000 anonymous bodies were buried over the years. When the site was developed for industrial purposes in the 1950s, the graves apparently were not removed. Later, the site was abandoned, and a memorial to the forgotten graves was built. This now too has been abandoned and is overgrown: a forgotten memorial to the forgotten.
