On the south side of Laurel Hill is the River Bend Marsh and the old, overgrown Malanka Landfill, named after its owner, Tony Malanka. The mounds have sunk to less than 70 feet in height. A small mound next to the northern part of the Malanka Landfill is actually Little Snake Hill, one of only two natural hills in the Meadowlands.
