Highway 17 defines the western edge of the Meadowlands, with residential hills on one side and industrial flats on the other, epitomizing the transition from old to new commercial activity in the region. The Highway 17 corridor still has vestiges of character from earlier times, like the Fiesta Restaurant and Banquet Hall, a favored prom party and wedding banquet location since the 1960s. Further south, Highway 17 is filling in with contemporary national chain retail and restaurants, part of the great “Bed Bath & Beyond-ing” of the area’s suburbs.
