Diamond Alkali Site

Industries along the banks of the Harrison Reach portion of the Passaic River include the former Diamond Alkali Plant, which made DDT in the 1950s and Agent Orange in the 1970s. The site is now owned by Occidental Chemical of Los Angeles. Some of the wastes at the facility have been contained under an asphalt cell, with pumps operating continuously to lessen the flow of contaminants into the river.
