Simplot Nampa Potato Plant

2995 CLUI photo.

J.R. Simplot acquired their Nampa plant from Nestle in 2000. As at Simplot’s Caldwell plant, potatoes are stored, cleaned, peeled, cut, fried, quick frozen, packaged, and shipped from the facility, which uses a two-stage ammonia refrigeration compressor to power freeze tunnels and cold storage. The Nampa plant will be closed in 2014, to be replaced by a new, larger, more energy-efficient plant on the current Simplot site in Caldwell, with an anticipated loss of several hundred jobs.
