Tropicana Bradenton Juice Plant

2960 CLUI photo.

The largest juice tank farm in North America, and one of the continent’s largest refrigerated enclosures, is at Tropicana’s Bradenton, Florida plant. Juice oranges are brought here from groves all over Florida (Tropicana is the single largest customer for Florida oranges), and stored in bulk bins before juicing. Some juice is reduced to concentrate and frozen, while the bulk (sold in stores as “fresh, not from concentrate,” and known in the industry as NFC) is pasteurized, de-oiled, and deoxygenated before being chilled to 32°F and pumped into 1.5 million-gallon, epoxy resin-lined, carbon steel, aseptic tanks, in which it can be stored for up to a year.
