PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS: EXHIBITS |
Terminal Island
Terminal Island floats in space, detached and connected to the world. In a sense it is hardly there: it was pulled from the sea for things to move through it. Across its expanse are fields of asphalt and strips of conveyance, a landscape of flow. Beneath it, pipes move crude, fuel, water, and liquid waste, all of it away to elsewhere. At its peninsular tips is a liminal land, housing isolated transients, people and actions about break from the nation and disappear. Terminal Island is a land at the edge of the Earth, where America begins and ends. Read the newsletter article about this exhibit Read the newsletter article about the related tour
