Winchester Mystery House, California

Known as "the house that guilt built," the Winchester house is a former private home that is now a tourist attraction. It is a rambling, eccentric structure boasting 160 rooms, which was under continuous construction for 38 years. The widow of the man who held the patent on the Winchester Rifle was convinced that she could escape the ghosts of those killed by the gun if she continued to expand and alter her house. The site is now a major tourist destination.
