Tooele Smelter, Utah

Built by the International Smelting and Refining Co. in 1909, later known as ASARCO, the site contained both a copper and a lead smelter. The copper smelter closed in 1946, followed by the closing of the lead smelter in 1972, which was then demolished over the course of the next two years. Due to high levels of arsenic and lead, the site was placed on the EPA's National Priority List in July of 2000, where it remained until 2010, when reclamation was completed.
