Sinclair Sinclair Refinery, Wyoming

The oil refinery in Sinclair, Wyoming, is one of two operated by the Sinclair Oil company, which gave the company town its name (the other refinery operated by the company is in Casper). Sinclair Oil, a distinctive brand with a dinosaur on its logo, is known as Wyoming’s oil and gasoline company. It has around 2,700 gas stations in the USA, though most of its gas is produced by other companies, like ARCO. It was started by Harry Sinclair in 1919, who served six months in prison for his role in the Teapot Dome oil/bribery scandal of the 1920s, then moved back into his Manhattan mansion. The Sinclair Refinery has a capacity of 85,000 barrels per day, medium small by national standards, but the largest of the four major refineries still operating in the state.
