Old Faithful, Wyoming

Ringed by viewing platforms and walking trails, Old Faithful is the geyser that is the central attraction at Yellowstone, the nation’s first National Park. Yellowstone covers nearly 4,000 square miles at the northwest corner of Wyoming, and is full of geothermal vents, pools, and scenic vistas. The lodge at Old Faithful is the most dramatic and grand of the neatly 2,000 buildings in the park. The park sees around two million visitors a year, and employed up to 3,700 people (2015) at peak times in the summer. There are 310 miles of paved roads in the park, and nine separate museums and visitor centers. Despite this, the southeast corner of Yellowstone is among the most remote places in the continental 48 states, meaning furthest from a settlement or road.
