National Emergency Training Center (NETC), Maryland

Located on the former grounds of St. Joseph's College, this is a major training facility for emergency management professionals in law enforcement, fire protection, the military, and other disaster prevention and mitigation fields, at the federal, state, local, and tribal level. It is managed by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in conjunction with the National Fire Academy (NFA), who share the operating costs of the NETC. Facilities to be found on the 107-acre campus include classroom and administrative buildings, an arson laboratory, stimulation laboratories, assorted computer laboratories, and field testing and training resources including emergency bunkers. The National Emergency Training Center, the Emergency Management Institute, and the National Fire Academy, are in turn overseen by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
