Llano Del Rio Site, California

Llano was an early community of Socialists, established on the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains in 1914. By 1918, however, the decision was made to close the colony and relocate to New Llano, Louisiana, in response to political infighting, loss of water rights, and lack of access to the larger economy due to geographical isolation, among other issues. Ruins of the community can still be found in the area.
