Lick Observatory, California

An observatory atop Mount Hamilton, a 4,200 foot mountain east of San Jose, operated by the University of California, Santa Cruz. Facilities include five modern telescopes, including the 3-meter Shane optical telescope, one of the most productive research scopes in the world, as well as the latest addition to the collection: the Automated Planet Finder (APF). Among other accomplishments, Lick Observatory published the first photographic atlas of the Moon.
