Evansville Refinery, Wyoming

Sinclair operates a 25,000 barrel per day refinery in Evansville, one of several small oil refineries still operating in Wyoming. It is located next to what used to be a larger refinery, operated for years by Texaco, said to emit insoluable petroleum globs into the North Platte River, immediately adjacent to the plant. The Texaco plant began processing petroleum products from locally extracted crude in the 1920's and closed in 1982. The plant was torn down, though groundwater issues are said to continue.  In 2013, a Wyoming-based development company purchased 135 acres of the former site, with the intention of creating an industrial park.
