Cades Cove, Tennessee

Cades Cove is the name of a town that used to be located here. In 1934, when the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was being established, the 600 or so residents were asked to leave. Those that chose to stay, could do so until they died, after which their land and property would become part of the park. They have all since died, but their buildings (modest log cabins are the dominant architectural style) remain, and are preserved as a representative regional community by the Park Service.
